A Little Bit About Me
Aspiring world traveler who has been blessed to live on 4 continents so far , I have been traveled to lots of countries and plan to travel much more inshAllah.
I enjoy camping/hiking, getting lost in awe of a great night sky or laying at night listening to the sounds of an oceans. Allah's creation has always awed me. I try go to the gym at least 3-5 day a week and think staying healthy and in shape is important. I like yoga, tai chi and weight lifting.
I enjoy various ethnic foods Italian, Indian, Sushi, Middle Eastern, Indonesian and of course burritos.
Ethical food sources and food with integrity are very important.
Allah has given me a unyielding appetite for learning, so I enjoy reading and or listening to books, topics vary, from philosophy to relationship dynamics intrigue me. Authors such as Wally Lamb, Toni Morrison, Khalid Hosseini, Dr Suess, William Chittick, Toshihiko Izutsu, Sachiko Murata, Dr. Khalid Abou El Fadl and Dr. S Hossein Nasr and Sh Hamza Yusuf, Dr. Tariq Ramadan, Dr. Sherman Jackson, Sh Abdul Hakim Murad keep my mind occupied.
I have learned that listening is not as easy as one would intuitively think. I have been told i am a good listener and consider listening and especially listening without prejudging hard to do yet critical to a good relationship.
I believe working on our inner spiritual heart to purify our relationship with the creator will lead to a strong relationship. I try not to worry about what others are doing and focus on bettering myself, since I have soooo much to work on. ;)
Believe in respecting our environment and believe that Allah has created consciousness in all of his creation. Recognizing that obligates me to respect human and non-human life.
I am old fashioned and romantic in many ways and new world and techy in others.
Loyalty and mutual consultation is very important to me.
Everything is in a divine balance so must our lives be balanced. Not always serious, not always fun.
Since I don't want to be serious all the time and sports are fun, I am a long suffering Cleveland sport fan Indians, Cavs, Browns and Newcastle United fan. This should not eliminate me from consideration, well maybe it should.
I like films, indie and foreign films ... 21 Grams, The English Patient, Grand Torino, SlumDog, Life is Beautiful, all Bogey and Bacall films are fabulous.
Shooting pool or live theater is fantastic, dont watch much TV but do like Colbert Report, the Office and Daily Show. If you love live theater you and I will get along inshallah.
My non-negotiables:
If you have wahabi, salafi tendencies, I am not interested.
If you think yourself superior in your heart to non-muslims or like labeling muslims as heretics we will not get along.
So if you think spirituality is less important than rituals we will not get along.
If you look for reasons to condemn people or think using our brains is an innovation we will not get along and aren't a good match.
I believe in Allah's love and mercy and have a very intimate and sincere personal relationship with my Creator. I want to be able to sincerely grow spiritually with the woman Allah chooses for me.

What I Am Looking For
I have come to believe that God has a plan for all of us and I just want to do my part and put in the effort for Allah to connect me with my mate.
I have been raised by a very strong independent woman and I am seeking someone who speaks her mind and knows her rights. I am nobody boss and not looking to tell anyone what to do. Believe in mutual consultation and joint decision making.
My ideal match loves to travel with an open mind and just practices random acts of kindness.
She knows when push comes to shove the universe's purpose is much larger than our day to day concerns but also knows those day to day concerns at times feel like the universes only purpose.
She cherishes moments of tenderness, expects emotional depth in herself and me, is at ease with people of different races , socio-economic status , religions and cultures.
Do you sees the value of learning, cares about social justice and bothered by injustice.
Hope you take care of your physical body, are aware of your emotional health and have a spiritual core.
I believe Dr Kings words that 'The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.'
Do you love to laugh, believe wisdom is rare and patience is hard. believe there are gray areas in life.
Are you independent in thoughts and actions seeking interdependence with the help of our creator?
I am so far from perfect, just a quirky work in progress, and I am so frequently wrong and I will admit it when you are not around ;) .
Would like to say I grew by knowing you. I have seen a lot and struggled to overcome.
I lose patience around arrogance, racism or cruelty, seems insecure and unnecessary to me.
I lived amongst many people, all over the world, from abject poverty to millionaires in mansions. Not impressed by wealth or power and flaunting it. I am blessed with enough resources and talent that I am not worried about my next meal or roof over my head with the grace of the creator.
Not essential to have similar interests, but similarity in outlook is important. Want to discover what makes you unique.
Just looking for the "one" the "ONE" has for me if it is in Allah's will. May God preserve you in your life's journey.
